LED Lighting Use Cases for Work Hazards in Shipyards
Shipyards are extremely dangerous work sites due to a myriad of hazards that come with operations and the general environment. Fortunately, LED lights can be used to make such marine locations safer to work in.
This article covers three ways to deploy LED lights in shipyards for improving work safety.
1. Confined Spaces
Confined spaces in shipyards refer to tight combustible areas with very limited entry and exit points. Examples include large tanks and storage rooms under construction. The hazards of working in confined spaces go beyond the flammable environment. These sections of the shipyard are typically very dark and require strict safety measures.
LED Solution: Class-rated explosion proof portable lights can be used to boost safety in confined spaces. Portable explosion proof drop lights, as well as temporary LED tank lights are effective for illuminative safety in combustible areas of the shipyard.
2. Temporary Walkways
Shipyards are filled with temporary walkways that are elevated several feet from the ground. Falling or slipping on these unstable structures can cause injuries – especially when carrying equipment.

3. Working with Heavy Machinery
